Hi I have the CR-V EX I-MMD CVT 2019
I bought it 2 years ago from local Honda garage. Within a few weeks of having it I put it in to get the brakes checked as I felt they weren’t very good. They told me that they only needed a clean and everything was ok.

I’ve had the brakes checked a few times since by independent mechanics as I feel at times I’m having to press really hard on it.
Each time I’m told everything seems ok.

Then this morning as my husband switched it on a couple of warnings about the brakes flashed up. ES Check system which I know is emissions and a few other lights light a skidding car and he said something about brake system came up. Car was MOTed 2 months ago and no issues. . He drove it around the block and the brakes were making a really bad scrapping clunky sound and virtually no brake power and he felt his foot was practically on the floor.

Called a friend round who also has a CRV and does work on cars and he couldn’t find anything wrong and warning lights had also gone! He does say though that he doesn’t think much of our brakes.

Is there any know fault with the brakes on this car or does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be please?

I suspect that either a pad has worn down to the metal or you have a stone caught in one.

Hi

I have the CRV HYBRID 2020 model.

I’m having a similar brake problem, it started when the warning lights came on whilst driving on a dual carriageway.
I wasn’t barking and hadn’t braked even slightly for over a mile.
Orange warning lights came on in sequence, EP, ES, ACC, BRAKEHOLD then the slipping vehicle and finally the hill start symbol.

I moved into the near side and began to brake, the brake pedal went down in stages, and was very inefficient.

I’ve got the vehicle booked into my local garage, it’s always been serviced by Honda.

This was a very scary experience, I plan on delivering the vehicle to the garage when the roads are a lot quieter.

I’ll update the repairs needed when work is complete.

Have you checked the brake fluid level ?
Over time, brake pads wear out and as the mass on them decreases, the brake fluid level in the reservoir naturally drops. In extreme cases, the system can become air-filled. And you really don't want that.
