74 Reg HRV Auto High Beam issue
Apologies if this has been covered earlier. I have recently purchased a brand new 2024 (74 Reg) HRV and have an issue with the way the Auto High Beam works. Driving at night the Auto Beam assist comes on which is fine, but also the Blue High Beam light is illuminated on the dash even when the lights are in Low Beam. Driving down a motorway the Blue light illuminates and then randomly goes off and on BUT the lights are always on Low beam!! On all the cars I have driven the Blue light ONLY comes on when the High Beam is activated, including in my wife's 2019 Honda Jazz with the Auto High/Low Beam system. Is this Normal? I hope not. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

I'm sure the blue light only comes on with high beam. Is the fault sufficiently frequent that the dealer will be able to see it if there is a test drive in the dark?

Which model do you have? As far as I recall, all except the Elegance have “Adaptive Driving Beam” which is more sophisticated than the “Main Beam Assist” fitted to the Elegance and all Jazz models. There is a good Youtube video explaining how the system works but in essence there is a mid pattern called “low main beam” or similar. Each side can operate independently of the other and I suspect that it is this system that is operating. Not been able to confirm with my own Advance Style Plus as these days I have no need to drive at night.

Thanks for all your thoughts on this. The blue high beam light comes on when high beam is activated manually and goes off when switched to low beam. The model I have is the Advance Style. I think I'll take it back to dealer in new year to discuss and hopefully they will see my problem during a test drive. The main issue is that it doesn't seem to be consistently on or off when in auto mode, but imho the blue light should only come on when the headlights are actually in High Beam.

The handbook states that the high beam indicator comes on under two conditions
1-When the high beams are on.
2-When the adaptive driving beam is active.
Thus it seems that the indicator can be on when the high beams are NOT on but the adaptive beam is active.

So as my model has Adaptive Lights does that mean the Blue Light on the dashboard will come on and off at different times depending on the conditions? It's extremely confusing and distracting when it keeps switching on for a while then at some point it goes off, even when the High Beam is not activated. It's nothing like how all the cars I have driven over the past 50 years or so work with high beam.....
