Hi everyone
Re: Honda CRV ex 1.6 DTec 2017 (Pre upgrade)
Garmin Sat Nav Honda BEANs 1.0
The last available maps update for this model is 2023.
Garmin inform me that the Honda in car computer is insufficient to hold the newer maps therfore they have stopped support.
I am wondering whether anyone out there has an alternative sat nav that can be loaded on to the on board computer and is up to date.
I travel a lot through western Europe and although the 2022 maps that I have are not that bad it would be good to update the system.
Thans for looing and Happy New Year to you all.
Alternative Sat Nav for Honda CRV 2017
I would stay clear of using non authorised third party software, you may sort your satnav issue, but it may have an affect on other software your vehicle requires that may be much more difficult to resolve.
I have had my own long and convoluted journey of trying to add navigation to my HR-V; was advertised as having factory nav - it didn't. The software could not be added. It had Mirrorlink, however, Honda's software was years out of date and they no longer supported it. In the end I purchased a TomTom GO Superior (other satnavs are available). Monthly updates for 'life', up to date live traffic and re-routing, fuel pricing, speed camera alerts, and the voice command is practically Glaswegian Approved. It also has the added advantage of being USB-C, and the mounts are magnetic so no more fiddling around trying to attach, or remove the unit from the mount.

I wasn't referring to AA or Carplay.
The OP was talking about adding alternative software to his head unit. He either already has AA or Carplay installed on his head unit or he doesn't. It is not something an owner can just install to their head unit.
