Android auto wireless hack
Hello everyone, I just signed up here to share my experience with you on activating Android Auto Wireless, maybe it will help.
Today I picked up my new HR-v Advance, which I am very excited about.
I entered the Diagnosis Menu (Home+Power+<< for 10-15 seconds was the only combination that worked form me, if it's not working you can also try Home+Power+>>), I activated Android Auto like in the movie for Jazz, but Android auto did not work Wireless.
I went to General Settings, Connections, Bluetooth, I selected my smartphone (Galaxy S21) but I only had Audio and Phone, nothing related to Android Auto as it appears in the movie.
Because my phone was still playing music on Bluetooth, I unchecked Audio and Phone from that menu, I left, then I went back in and only checked Phone. After I did that Android Auto appeared under. I checked it, turned off and restarted the car and Android Auto worked wireless in a few seconds.
I don't know if it matters, but before I started, I reset the unit to factory settings (I thought the dealer might have changed various settings).
Also, before entering the Diagnosis Menu, the phone must be connected to USB in order to activate Android Auto.
Therefore Android Auto wireless it's working on the new HR-V, you just have to insist a little through the settings.

I tried sometime ago to activate Android Auto wireless connection with no success, didn't realise that the phone had to be connected via the USB. Managed today to get the wireless connection turned on in the smartphone section of the Diagnosis Menu, but can only get Android Auto to appear in the home screen if the phone is connected through the USB.zeushub wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 9:11 pm Hello everyone, I just signed up here to share my experience with you on activating Android Auto Wireless, maybe it will help.

Have set my phone (Galaxy S20FE running android 12) as a mobile hotspot with no success, does the android auto app have to be installed into the infotainment system.
No, Android Auto is installed on the car, also there is no need for wireless or hotspot connection. It will work only after you select Android Auto for you smartphone in Bluetooth settings.
Go to General Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and select your smartphone (Galaxy S20FE). Uncheck Audio and Phone, exit to Home, go one more time to General Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and select your smartphone (Galaxy S20FE), check Phone and you'll see that Android Auto will appear underneath but will be grayed, uncheck Phone and check Android Auto (you should have the same screen as in the movie from the first post at 3:30), turn off the car and turn it on again and Android Auto should work wireless.

Hi zeushub,
Still no luck with getting wireless hack to work.
If you go into all apps in your HRV does it show Auto Android as present, mine doesn't.
My infotainment does not show the option of Auto Android, only Audio and Phone. See pics attached, first one is from video, second is my HRV.
Can only work through the usb, which I prefer to use to play my music using a usb stick.
Regards
Ron

Hello Ron,
I had the same problem as yours. As I previously said, Android Auto appeared after I did the following sequence:
1. General Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and select your smartphone (Galaxy S20FE). Uncheck Audio and Phone, apply, go back to home. (eventually turn off and turn on the car after).
2. General Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and select your smartphone (Galaxy S20FE), check Phone, apply and Android Auto will appear after that.
3. Uncheck Phone and check Android Auto, apply. Turn off the car and turn it on again.
What I also did, before starting with diagnosis menu, was to reset the system to factory defaults. I don't know if that will solve the problem, but mine didn't work until I did that.
The entire procedure that worked for me:
1. Tried the hack with no luck after I took the car from the dealer.
2. Factory reset the system. (you will loose everything)
3. Connect the phone with USB cable to launch and initialize Android Auto.
4. Pair the phone with HR-V Bluetooth.
5. Turn off the car, start in accessory mode.
6. Enter Diagnosis menu: hold for 10-15 seconds Home + Power + Backward buttons.
7. Activate Android Auto wireless form the Smartphone connection settings.
8. Turn off the car, start it normally.
9. Connect the phone with USB cable to launch Android Auto. Disconnect Android Auto after that.
10. General Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and select the smartphone. Uncheck Audio and Phone, apply, go back to home. (eventually turn off and turn on the car after).
11. General Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and select the smartphone, check Phone, apply and Android Auto will appear bellow.
12. General Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and select the smartphone, uncheck Phone and check Android Auto, apply. Turn off the car and turn it on again.
This is my software version: I hope this will help.

Hi zueshub,
Thanks for the full rundown of how you setup the wireless hack.
Will do the factory reset in a couple of weeks, going on holiday tomorrow.
I don't think I was turning the car off and on during the process.
Will let you know how I get on when I get back from holiday.
